Zund Cutting Table Models Explained
A straightforward guide to Zund's cutting tables, what the differences are and what each model is suited to.
Zund have been manufacturing cutting tables for over 30 years. Many of their original machines are still in operation today, their technology has continued to evolve from these early machines to the latest generation of cutting tables that are being sold.
Werxco specialise in the third generation of Zund cutting tables, known as the G3, S3 and D3 models.

Zund G3 – The Current Standard
The Zund G3 is Zund's third generation platform and the most widely used cutting system in the UK today. Introduced in the early 2010s, it remains in current production and represents the mainstream choice for UK sign, display, packaging, industrial and manufacturing cutting businesses.
The D3 is a specialist version of the G3 which utilises twin gantries to increase performance, usually for cardboard processing and packaging businesses.

G3 format guide:
M Series - 1300mm Width
L Series - 1800mm Width
XL Series - 2200mm Width
2XL Series - 2700mm Width
3XL Series - 3200mm Width
The number following the format letter (1600, 2500 or 3200) refers to the cutting length in millimetres.
Who uses G3 machines:
The majority of UK sign, display, packaging and wide-format print businesses running Zünd equipment. The G3 is the default choice for businesses investing in Zünd for the first time and for those upgrading from older generations.

Zund S3 – The High Performance Platform
The Zund S3 is Zund's high-performance cutting platform, designed for businesses that need higher throughput, greater speed and enhanced precision compared to the G3. It shares the same tools of the G3 but with a more advanced drive and control system. G3 Modules are not interchangeable with S3 Modules.
Key characteristics:
Higher cutting speeds than equivalent G3 machines
Enhanced precision and repeatability at speed
Available in M Series, L Series and XL Series.
Compatible with the full range of Zund S3 modules and tools
Particularly well suited to high-volume production environments
Who uses S3 machines:
Businesses with high-volume cutting requirements where throughput is critical, large format print and display businesses, packaging manufacturers and operations where the G3's speed is a limiting factor and the larger bed sizes of the G3 Series are not beneficial to efficiency.

Zund PN Series – The Legacy Equipment
The Zund PN Series were widely sold into UK print, sign and packaging businesses throughout the 2000s and early 2010s. Many are still in active production today, a testament to the build quality of the platform.
We are finding it is becoming increasingly difficult to source parts for these machines, as they are no longer available from Zund.
G3 vs S3 – Which Is Right for You?
For most UK businesses, the G3 is the right choice. It offers an excellent combination of versatility, precision and speed. Used machines are not as common as G3.
The S3 makes sense if:
- You have high-volume cutting requirements where speed is a bottleneck
- You're running a production environment where machine downtime has a significant cost
- Space is a premium and you do not have room for G3 series tables.

Zund Module Compatibility — A Quick Guide
One of the most important things to understand about the Zund platform is module compatibility:
G3 modules are compatible across the G3 range regardless of format
S3 modules are compatible across the S3 range
G3 and S3 modules are not directly interchangeable
PN Series modules are not compatible with G3 or S3 machines
This means when buying a used G3, adding G3 modules from any source is straightforward
